The pilot behind Trixi is me, Cory Heinricks; an avid cyclist, nature-lover, urban adventurer, and father of two. After 14 years, I left my comfortable oil and gas job where I was stuck in a lab, working as a chemist, to find something that brings me greater joy. I’ve ridden bikes all my life and after some deep reflection realized that building community by sharing the joy of cycling is what I really want to do.

I was introduced to the trishaw via the Cycling Without Age movement at the most recent Winter Bike Day - here in Calgary - where Bike Calgary ended that amazingly frigid day with a screening of the Cycling Without Age documentary.  I was deeply moved by what that organization is doing as I had previously imagined taking my aging parents for Chariot bicycle trailer rides like what I did for my children when they were young.  Since the screening, I have gone through all the required training and gained valuable trishaw piloting experience at both Bethany Calgary and Hillcrest Extendicare taking their residents out on trishaw rides.

As rewarding an experience as this has been, what I've come to believe is that the opportunities for use of the trishaw are great and I am taking my first steps as an entrepreneur to offer a taxi/tour/nature therapy trishaw ride service to the community, for tourists, and especially for those who are mobility-challenged.
